The Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools (DEIS) programme is a Government of Ireland initiative that aims to reduce educational disadvantage in both primary and post-primary schools. It is a Department of Education and Youth policy.
Under the DEIS programme, schools with a number of students at risk of educational disadvantage get extra resources such as reduced staff:pupil ratios, the School Completion Programme, access to Home School Community Liaison staff and further supports.
The aim is to improve opportunities for people in communities at risk of disadvantage and social exclusion and the whole school community benefits.
