Sustainable Living Week

13-November-23

We have a very exciting week ahead in Curragh Community College this week as we mark Sustainable Living Week and Science Week. The week is an opportunity to remind our school community of the responsibly we hold to live as sustainably and possible and make the minimal impact possible on our environment.

We have lessons planned across the week that highlight the importance of this message along with tips on how we can do so. We have key targets to reduce our paper usage, to turn lights off, to reduce food waste and to avoid wasting water. We will have extended litter picking in the schools surrounding area along with reminders of correct bin usage. We will also reinforce knowledge of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's)

The third years will enjoy a visit to Dublin Zoo as part of Science Week and there are quizzes and poster competitions planned also.

Parents/Guardians can support learning by visiting THE 17 GOALS | Sustainable Development (un.org) This link https://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/takeaction/ also highlights the small things we can all do to help live more sustainably. WWW.stopfoodwaste.ie is a great resource to help prevent food waste with lots of tips and advice available. you can also check in on Twitter to see updates across the week.
