Dr Niamh Shaw visits the Curragh

Dr. Niamh Shaw is a space communicator and has recently returned from the Kennedy Space Centre in Cape Canaveral where she reported on the launch of Artemis II for RTE, Sky News and BBC.

Niamh spoke with our Third Year students about Space, linking the recent Moon mission with the Junior Cycle Science syllabus. She then spoke with a second group of students from First, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Years about her zero-gravity training, her trips to both Antarctica and the Arctic Circle and how her career has developed. Her husband David Bushman also attended the talk and he shared some of his experiences as a NASA engineer with students who had an interest in engineering.
Niamh dreams of going to space someday herself, and the story of her adventures so far inspired some of our students and staff to aim high and follow their dreams.
